General Information
The mission of the department of Radiotherapy is to provide compassionate, state of the art, quality radiation treatment to cancer patients while integrating education, clinical research, and radiation physics to achieve improved outcomes.
Department has three functional units with fifteen of postgraduate students in a year. Radiation treatment center is the most comprehensive facility of its kind. Specially trained radiation oncologists are skilled in a wide range of standard and evolving treatments including latest techniques like SRT/SRS (first time in state) IMRT, IGRT, Brachytherapy and Chemotherapy.
By using the latest treatment planning technology available our radiation oncologists can design treatment with pinpoint accuracy, ensuring that tumors get the most effective dose while healthy tissue and organs are spared.
Radiation oncology at SMS is of the highest quality and focuses on cutting-edge techniques. At SMS Hospital we are always refining radiation treatment methods to achieve the highest quality patient care possible. Our unmatched range of equipment includes the latest strategies to treat tumors aggressively. While reducing or eliminating some of the side effects that accompany radiation treatment. It includes one Tele-cobalt 60 machine, one linear accelerator and one ultra modern HDR Brachytherapy unit.
