IDH was established in 1974 under the department of Community medicine, SMS Medcial College, Jaipur, situated on JLN Marg near Charak Bhawan. This is one of the few active Infectious Disease Hospitals in India. It has been established to provide in Patient care and isolation for patients suspected / having infectious diseases.
Situated on JLN Marg, a two storey building with a beautiful garden in front and parking facility, this hospital is well equipped( infrastructure and manpower) and prepared to provide care to patient care to patient during epidemics/outbreak like Swine-flu. Apart from in patient care, OPD services are also provided for infectious diseases. Eg. Acute gastroenteritis, Chickenpox. Any future outbreak of newly emerging diseases like Crimean Congo hemorrhagic fever, Ebola would be managed effectively at IDH hospital. Recently patients with serious diseases like Rabies and tetanus are also being managed here.
This is one of the teaching Hospital affiliated to SMS Medical College, Jaipur for training of resident Doctors, Interns and B.Sc/M.Sc. Nursing students.
Presently the IDH hospital is running under supervision of Dr.Goverdhan Meena, Professor of Community Medicine, SMS Medical College, Jaipur.
