Department of Paediatric Surgery details:
Department of Paediatric Surgery in NMCH, KOTA formerly started on 01/09/2009. At present total bed strength is 19; including 4 Neonatal Radiant head warmers (cradle) and 15 beds. Department has one Service Units. At present it comprises of 1 Assistant Professors, 1 Medical Officer (Post M.Ch. Paediatric Surgery), 1 L.R. Resident.
The department is running O.P.D on every Tuesday and Friday in Room number 1 of OPD at NMCH, KOTA. Elective O.T. is performed on every Monday and Thursday, while emergency operations, minor emergency procedures are performed on daily basis.
Total number of Major surgical Procedures performed in the year 2015 was 313, and those in 2016 were 625. Also, 532 Major surgical Procedures were performed in the last year (2017). Total number of inpatient in the year 2016 was 754, with 475 males and 279 females. The number of inpatient in the year 2017 was 645, with 430 males and 215 females. Average OPD is 30-35 patients/ OPD and minor operations performed in the minor O.T. are 4-5/ OPD.
Neonatal Surgery is one of the important focuses of the department. All congenital malformations are operated and managed by department, exceptions being the cardiac malformation. Also both preoperative and postoperative care is provided exclusively by the department, with fairly good results. Newborn surgeries performed are Esophageal Atresia, Congenial Diaphragmatic hernia / Eventration, Lobectomy in neonatal age group. Neonatal Neurosurgical procedures include repair of meningomyelocele, encephalocele and VP shunts (hydrocephalus). Neonatal abdominal wall and umbilical defects like Exomphalos and Gastroschisis are repaired. Neonatal inguinal hernias, Umbilical Vein catheterisation is managed by department. All Neonatal gastrointestinal atresias, obstruction and perforation and also are managed exclusively by the department. Surgeries for Sacrococcygeal teratoma and other Newborn tumors are also operated and managed by department.

Pediatric Laparoscopic Surgery
Pediatric Neurosurgery (like- hydrocephalous, Spina Bifida)
Pediatric Urology
Pediatric Pancreato- Hepatobiliary surgery
Pediatric Thoracic Surgery including VATS (Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery)
