Introduction
The role of teacher has undergone a tremendous change in view of universalisation of education, increasing use of IT in education, innovations in teaching and distance education etc. National policy on education, 1986 lays emphasis on teacher education. This Division was founded in 1963 with the advent of SIERT in the state. The Teacher Education Division of SIERT ensures professional development of teachers through various in-service training programmes to hone their teaching skills and other related areas of education. Apart from that the Division also provides support to DIETs in supervising teaching of Upper Primary Schools situated in rural and remote areas of the state to bring about improvement and qualitative change in teaching The Division, in coordination with DIETs and educational institutions is involved in extending guidance in the field of Educational Planning, Management and Evaluation of Educational Programs to IASEs, CTEs, DIETs, BIETs.
Objective :
• To prepare proposed Annual Calendar for the DIETs.
• To organise training programmes for the qualitative improvement of the teachers according to NPE 1986 and revised work plan of 1992.
• To prepare work plan for in-service and pre - service training program and its implementation.
• To assess need for new IASEs, CTEs, DIETs, and BITEs and prepare p1 To motivate for the educational researches.
• To prepare training modules of various units of DIETs.
• To control budget and funds disbursement to DIETs and BITEs

To identify mechanisms for ongoing support of teachers beyond annual trainings |
To organize induction level training programmes for faculty of IASEs, CTEs, DIETs, BITEs teacher training Council |
To create and maintain district level teachers database along with attendance in the training programmes |
To maintained academic, administrative and finance control and oversight over teacher training Councils |
To strengthen existing mechanisms such as cluster workshops and VC content |
To support in planning five year plan, perspective plans, TEAB, AWP&B of IASEs, CTEs, DIETs, and BITEs |
To design a robust observation and support process along with streamlined data collection for feedback and training input |
To coordinate among different teacher training Councils at all level |
To design training material and coordinate trainings for school, block, district and state leaders on academic interventions, nature of monitoring required and their role |
