Awards and Achievements
The various developmental and welfare schemes of the Continuing Education Centre, of Rajasthan have been recognised at the International and National level for their significant contributions towards spreading literacy.
The State Literacy Mission Authority, Rajasthan is the First State to be honoured with the prestigious UNESCO Confucius Award 2006, in China. The state has excelled in its efforts to eradicate illiteracy to a great extent, raising the bar to perform better in the near future.
An inspiring and remarkable recognition has been won by the Directorate of Literacy at the national level. Rajasthan was honoured with the NLMA-UNESCO Award 2000 for adult literacy. Till now districts Sikar, Pali, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jalore, Jaisalmair, Dousa, Bikaner, Ajmer, Hanumangarh and Udaipur have been awarded with the Satyen Maitray Award for excellent performance in the various phases of Literacy Programmes. 399 dedicated 'Preraks' have won the Akshar Mitra Award..
The centre has been recognised for numerous other achievements. The vocational products prepared by the neo-literate women were exhibited in Delhi Haat Bazar, which has ignited a zeal in them and others to be independent and face the challenges of the world. A film on innovative activities in Rajasthan – ‘Wings of Wisdom’ was screened on the International Literacy Day, 2006 in New Delhi.
The President of India gave SAAKSHAR BHARAT AWARD 2014 to the State Literacy Mission Authority, Rajasthan on 8 September 2014 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. At District level, DISTRICT SIKAR recieved the SAAKSHAR BHARAT AWARD 2014.
