MAIN ACHEIVEMENTS AND FACILITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT
Achievements:-
1. Active participation in the RNTCP program.
2. NTEP (RNTCP) sensitization program has been organized recently for the residents and faculty of medicine and surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology and has been planned for the other clinical departments
3. Dr Govind Desai thesis paper has been accepted for presentation at 25th Congress of Asia Pacific Society of Respirology, Kyoto, Japan.
4. Dr Lokesh Verma won the First prize in E-poster at NAPCON 2019 Kerala.
5. Dr Govind Desai and Dr Ashutosh Singhal were selected for North Zone TYSA pulmonology quiz held at New Delhi.
6. Dr. Govind Desai won the Chest Challenge 2019 competition ( All India 1st Rank) organized by ACCP (USA) and is selected for attending Chest 2019 conference held at New Orleans ,USA and free ACCP membership.
7. Dr Suresh Yogi secured Rank 9th (All India) in Chest Challenge 2019 organized by ACCP (USA) and secured free membership
8. Dr. Theres Mathew Best Performer award for workshop “New Diagnostic Tools in Diagnosis of Tuberculosis” in RAJCROPACON 2018.
9. Dr. Theres Mathew first Prize for poster presentation “Relation between vascular pattern visualised by Narrow Band Imaging Video Bronchoscopy” PCCM-CME 2018.
10. Dr. Lokesh Verma had participated in North zone round of Torrent Young Scholar Award Programme 2018.
11. Dr. Lokesh Verma won the 2nd Place in poster presentation at ACPGCON 2018.

To Study the Usefulness of CBNAAT (Cartridge based Nuclear Acid Amplification Test) in BAL (Bronchoalveolar Lavage) Samples for the Diagnosis of Smear-Negative/Non Sputum Producing Patients with Suspected Tuberculosis.
Facilities:-
- Special procedures like I.C.T.D, pleural aspiration and F.N.A.C for various lung diseases are regularly done here. in 2020 – 1622 and till September 2021- 1531 minor OT procedures have been performed.
- About 450- 550 Bronchoscopies are done every year. In 2020 – 106 and till September 2021 - 150 bronchoscopies have been performed. Diagnostic Bronchoscopy is being performed every Wednesday and Saturday.
- USG Thorax guided procedures being done.
- C-ARM guided TTNA & Transbronchial lung biopsies are done.
- Medical Thoracoscopy is done for Pleural diseases (Tuesday & Friday).
- Body Plethysmography has been installed.
- CPET has been installed.
- Electrocautery facility for Bronchoscopic procedures is available since Jan 2015
- New flexible bronchoscope with Narrow Band Imaging Technology has been installed.
- In patient Deptt. – 150 bedded hospital with 4 wards, 3 cottage wards and 2 separate wards for the DOTS-Plus (MDR).
- Respiratory ICU(4 beds) has been started.(Non Invasive Ventilation)
- Computerised Spirometry is available and daily 10-12 spirometry is being performed for diagnosis and follow up.
- Central oxygen supply is available in all the Wards of the hospital.
- Silicosis camp is conducted on regular basis for diagnosis & A & B certificates are issued for silicosis patients for the financial benefit from Govt by the Pneumoconiosis board comprised of Dr. P.C. Vyas Sir, Dr. Ramanand Gehlot Sir , Dr. C.R.Choudhary Sir, in year 2020 – 2236 and till September 2021 – 1350 patients were screened & in year 2020 (A – 633 & B – 236) till September 2021 (A- 394 & B – 191) certificates has been issued.
- In our Department we have NDR-TB Centre in which we have started 345 Bedaquiline and 25 Delamanid regimen till September 2021.
Teaching Schedule:-
- Weekly case presentations, seminars and journals by residents on rotational basis.
- Case of the week/month routinely presented.
- Ward round teaching by the faculty on daily basis.
- Classes are held from 8-9am daily on weekdays.
Timely organization of CME’s, Workshops and press conference on special days like: -
- World ASTHMA day – 2nd Tuesday of May
- World ANTITOBACCO day – 31st May
- World TB day – 24 March, etc.

Events Organised:-
- The 13th state conference RAJPULMOCON 2014 was successfully organized by the Dept. of Respiratory Medicine Dr S N M C Jodhpur on 29th & 30th March 2014.
- Organized an Orientation programme on Silicosis in July 2015 for all the members of pneumoconiosis board of Jodhpur zone
- Regular CME's are being conducted through Chest forum.
New facilities upgraded in the hospital:-
- Two Pathologists (1 lecturer & 1 Sr demonstrator) has been posted to perform pathology investigations like cytology.
- One pharmacist for BPL & one for MNDY scheme has been appointed
- New Pulmonary Function lab is functioning and have plethysmography, DLCO, Spirometry, CPET
- Auto analyzer has been installed in the lab.
- Digital x-ray machine has been installed in the dept. New X-ray room with two digital X-ray machine has been started.
- Free meal facility for patients & companions is being provided at the hospital premises.
- Parking facility for patient & attendees were upgraded in the campus.
- One pathology Lab Assistant & one X-RAY assistant were appointed.
- New digital X-ray machine is installed for Indoor & Emergency patients
- 38 Nursing staff have been appointed from Dr. S N M C, Jodhpur.
- Ramp is being constructed in the hospital
- New oxygen generation plant is under construction.
