Department Of Cardiology
Development of Department of Cardiology and present position of Cardiology Department
Initially Department of Cardiology was under department of medicine. In year 1992 first Cath lab was established under guidance of Dr. V.S. Baldwa, HOD, and Department of Medicine cum Cardiology. At that time 50 beds were sanctioned for Cardiology.
Separate Department of cardiology was established in year 1995 under guidance of Prof. Dr. R.K. Madhok. At that time only two units was present with 5 faculty-one Professor, two Associate Professors and two Assistant Professors. III Unit of cardiology was started in 2011 and was headed by Dr. Rajeev Bagarhatta. At present the department is under guidance of HOD and Prof. Dr. Anoop Jain with following 9 faculty members, Prof. Dr. S.M. Sharma (Unit Head II), Prof. Dr. C.B. Meena, Prof. Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, Assistant Professors Dr. Neeraj Chaturvedi, Dr. Om Prakash and Dr. Ritesh Kumar Gupta.
DM Course was started in the Department from year 2000. At that time total no. of seats for DM Course was 2 but in 2010 the total no of seat was increased to 8. At present 8 candidates are admitted for DM Course each so that total 24 DM Residents are present in the department.
Two years paramedical diploma course in ECG (DET) was started in 2006, 20 candidates are admitted each year for the same.
Since 2008 cardiology OPD is running all seven days in a week.
30 additional beds were sanctioned in 2012. At present total no of beds are 80 in general ward. There are 22 beds in Cardiac ICU.
Rounded the clock Cardiology Emergency Department was started in 2012.
At present average 40 procedures in Cath Lab, average 60 Echo study and 15-20 CTMT are done daily in the Department.
